Plan Your Visit to Boston AI Week

Boston AI Week runs across Greater Boston and Massachusetts, Sept 24 – Oct 2. How to get in, get around, where to stay, and what to do — with the Seaport as your home base.

Your home base

Your home base: the Seaport.

The Seaport is the easiest place to stay: closest to Logan, walkable from South Station, and home to the Opening and Closing parties — with hotels, restaurants, and venues clustered within a few blocks.

Boston AI Week itself runs across Greater Boston and the Commonwealth; the Seaport is simply the simplest base and the heart of the social program.

Getting here

How to reach Boston AI Week.

By air

Fly into Logan International (BOS), three miles from the Seaport. The free Silver Line SL1 bus runs from every Logan terminal to the Seaport in about 10 minutes.

By train

Amtrak and Acela arrive at South Station, walkable to the Seaport. The Northeast Corridor connects directly to New York, Philadelphia, and DC.

Budget airports

Consider Providence (PVD) or Manchester (MHT) for cheaper fares, then bus or rail into Boston.

By car

I-90 (Mass Pike) and I-93 feed directly into the Seaport. Garages and lots offer 5,000+ parking spaces; consider transit during weekday peaks.

Arriving at Logan

A quick walkthrough for first-time arrivals — from gate to the Seaport in about half an hour.

  1. Step 1
    Immigration

Clear U.S. Customs and Border Protection. Have your passport, ESTA/visa, and U.S. address (your hotel) ready.

  2. Step 2
    Baggage claim

Collect checked bags, then exit through the customs hall into the terminal.

  3. Step 3
    Follow signs to Silver Line

From any terminal, follow signs to the Silver Line SL1 bus — inbound rides from Logan are free.

  4. Step 4
    ~10 min to the Seaport

SL1 runs every few minutes and drops you at Seaport stops. Water taxi and rideshare / taxi pickup zones are also signed from each terminal.

Getting around

Once you're here.

The MBTA "T"

Boston's subway connects the Seaport, Back Bay, and Cambridge. The Silver Line links Logan to the Seaport directly.

Boston Harbor water taxi

On-demand water taxis run between Logan, the Seaport, and downtown — a scenic alternative to the Silver Line.

Bluebikes

13 docking stations across the Seaport. Day passes and single rides via the Bluebikes app.

Rideshare

Uber and Lyft pickup zones at Logan and across the Seaport. Expect surge pricing during evening events.

Walking

The Seaport is dense and flat. Most venues, hotels, and parties are within a 10-minute walk of each other.

Events across Greater Boston.

Extend your stay

Come for AI Week, stay for New England in the fall.

Late September through October is peak New England — fall foliage, harbor weather, and a full slate of seasonal trips within a couple of hours of Boston.

Fall foliage

Peak color across central and western Massachusetts and Vermont runs late September into October.

Salem

Salem's October season draws crowds for history, witch-trial sites, and harborfront walks — book early.

Cape Cod

Quieter beaches, oyster shacks, and the Outer Cape (Provincetown, Wellfleet) shoulder season.

The Berkshires

Lenox, Stockbridge, and MASS MoCA — galleries, hiking, and country inns in foliage country.

International & practical

Before you fly.

Visa / ESTA

Travelers from Visa Waiver Program countries need an approved ESTA before boarding. Apply at least 72 hours before travel; most other visitors need a B-1/B-2 visa. Check the U.S. State Department site for your country.

Weather & packing

Late September in Boston runs roughly 50–72°F (10–22°C). Pack layers, a light rain shell, and comfortable walking shoes — the Seaport is windy near the water.

Connectivity & eSIM

U.S. carriers offer fast 5G across Boston. Most international phones support eSIM — activate before you land for instant coverage. Free Wi-Fi at Logan and most hotels.

Tipping

Tipping is expected: 18–20% at sit-down restaurants, $1–2 per drink at bars, 15–20% for taxis and rideshare, and $1–2 per bag for hotel porters.

Accessibility

The Seaport is flat and largely step-free. The MBTA Silver Line and most stations are wheelchair-accessible. Email info@aiweek.boston for event-specific accommodations.

Emergencies

Dial 911 for police, fire, or medical emergencies. Boston has multiple major hospitals within minutes of the Seaport, including Tufts and Mass General.

Currency & payment

U.S. dollars (USD). Cards, contactless, and Apple Pay / Google Pay are accepted almost everywhere; ATMs are widely available throughout the Seaport and downtown.

Power

U.S. outlets are Type A/B, 120V/60Hz. Bring an adapter — and a converter for any device that isn't dual-voltage.

Time zone

Boston is on U.S. Eastern Time. In late September that's UTC−4 (EDT) — three hours ahead of California, five hours behind the UK.
