About

Project Management in the Age of AI AI can help project managers work faster, examine problems from more angles, and communicate more clearly. It does not replace the discipline, professional judgment, or accountability required to deliver successful projects. In this focused 90-minute interactive workshop, Rohan Garricks, MSc, PMP, draws on his experience managing complex, multimillion-dollar projects to demonstrate practical ways AI can support real project work. Participants will see how AI can help clarify scope and success criteria, challenge plans and assumptions, identify risks and dependencies, organize project information, strengthen stakeholder communication, and support better decisions. The workshop is structured around project management practice first and technology second. Through practical examples, live demonstrations, and a realistic project scenario, participants will explore where AI can add value across the project lifecycle and where established project controls and human judgment remain essential. The demonstrations draw on tools Rohan uses to run his own projects, including Notion and Granola, paired with the AI assistant of your choice. These are examples, not a tutorial on any specific tool. The workshop is tool agnostic. The concepts you leave with, including how AI can sharpen scope, risk thinking, and project information, transfer to whatever tools you already use. Who should attend: - Project managers and project leads - Coordinators, producers, technical managers, and functional leads who manage projects - Managers responsible for cross-functional delivery - Anyone interested in strengthening project management practice while learning where AI can help Advanced AI experience is not required. Familiarity with basic project work will help participants connect the examples to their own responsibilities. Participants will see practical ways to use AI to: - Turn an unclear request into a stronger project brief with defined outcomes, scope, constraints, and success criteria - Review a project plan for missing work, unclear ownership, sequencing problems, and dependencies - Strengthen the analysis of risks, assumptions, issues, and changes - Convert meeting notes into decisions, actions, owners, risks, and follow-up - Prepare clearer status updates, stakeholder communications, and escalation options - Challenge project plans and decisions while retaining professional judgment and accountability Participants will leave with practical approaches they can use now, ideas they can explore later, and examples they can adapt to their own projects and organizations. The goal is not to replace the project manager. It is to help capable project professionals think more clearly, ask better questions, and manage with stronger support. The workshop is guided by Rohan’s Crawl. Walk.. Run... approach to practical AI adoption. Participants begin with SIGNAL, a framework for thinking clearly about the work, then use CRAFT to communicate effectively with AI, and apply both through the Crawl. Walk.. Run... stages. Together, these frameworks help project professionals move from basic experimentation toward confident, responsible use of AI in real project work. AI tools are evolving quickly, so this workshop focuses not only on what works today, but also on durable ways of thinking and working that participants can adapt as the tools change. Speakers

  • Presenter
  • Rohan Garricks, MSc, PMP, is a senior project and technical manager with experience delivering complex, multimillion-dollar projects across theme park construction, themed entertainment, museums, audiovisual systems, and lighting. He is PMP-certified and Smartsheet-certified, and he presents project management and AI use training sessions at LDI (Live Design International) in Las Vegas.
  • Over the past two years, Rohan has deliberately tested and incorporated AI into his day-to-day project management practice, applying it to planning, risk and assumption analysis, workflow creation, stakeholder communication, meeting follow-up, and decision support. That sustained, hands-on use has given him a grounded view of where AI genuinely helps a working project manager, where it falls short or introduces new risks, and where professional judgment and accountability cannot be delegated to a tool.
  • This workshop is built from that combination: real project experience, formal PM training, and two years of practical experimentation with AI. Rohan shares what has worked, what has not, and why, so participants leave with a realistic picture rather than a sales pitch for AI. He also brings this same hands-on, confidence-building approach to free AI training he supports for Caribbean and Orlando Based communities, including groups in Jamaica and across the wider diaspora.
