DESCRIPTION:This session looks at what recent breakthroughs in AI mean fo
 r our lives. You'll leave with a better understanding of how to use AI wh
 ile keeping your own knowledge and skills sharp\, and where to focus your
  energy now. This includes building knowledge management systems\, protec
 ting the effort that builds memory instead of letting it atrophy\, and in
 vesting in Durable Skills that don't expire. More concretely\, I'll show 
 you tools to help you move from prompting a somewhat competent intern to 
 working alongside a reliable AI coworker.\n\nI'll start with an overview 
 of what changed in the last few years\, and why the shift to goal-oriente
 d AI (versus only task-based) has changed what's possible with computers 
 and robotics. We'll look at the impact large language models (like ChatGP
 T) are having on our cognition. The very tool that makes everything seem 
 much easier may be eroding our abilities and building dependence. A relat
 ed question is whether our kids are learning the knowledge and skills the
 y'll need.\n\nI've been exploring this for years because the stakes for m
 e personally are high. I've spent sixteen years in labor-management train
 ing and workforce development\, so I need to know what's going on in the 
 economy and how it will affect workers. More importantly\, I need to prep
 are my kids for a world where much of today's work will be augmented or a
 utomated.
